The following message was just released to the press from the Samson family. The Swansea staff will be attending the funeral. Staff from local schools will be coming in to cover classes so school will continue on Tuesday, as usual. If parents choose to attend with their children please remember to call the Safe Arrival Line to report your child’s absence.
I will also be talking with the family soon about how we can mark Tom Samson’s career at Swansea Public School.
Thank you for all of your support over the past few days and the weeks to come.
The funeral ceremony will take place on Tuesday Nov 27th, at ARTSCAPE WYCHWOOD BARNS on 76 Wychwood Ave (St. Clair & Christie area).
The public is invited to join family and friends at 1pm to celebrate Tom’s life.
12 – 1pm: Visitation for family and friends.
1- 2pm: Celebration of Tom’s life (OPEN TO PUBLIC)
and a private burial to follow immediately after the ceremony concludes.
To honour Tom’s love of reading and his dedication to helping young readers, we ask for donations to the Toronto Public Library Foundation.
Statement from the Samson family:
“We are overwhelmed by the love and support that we have received over the past two days. Tom was a beloved father, husband, son, brother, friend and teacher. He lived his life to the fullest and without regrets. He loved his wife and children very much, and was passionate about his calling as an elementary school teacher.
Our main focus now is to look after Tom’s wife and the children.”
