Auditions for Swansea’s production of The Lion King JR!
We hope to include as many students as possible in this year’s Musical – especially students who may not have opportunities to take part in the Arts outside of school! We realize that many students are interested but are nervous about auditioning, simply didn’t hear the announcements or forgot to bring their form. Because of these possibilities, we are extending the deadline for audition forms until Friday, October 14th.
Please encourage your children to take the risk and try out. We sometimes regret the things we DON’T do and we don’t want your students to regret not being a part of this amazing opportunity. Forms are available outside the Music Room and can be returned to Room 112.

Swansea Craft Sale – Nov 19
Student Applications are now available!
Open to Swansea PS Students only in Gr 6, 7 and 8. Table fee is $15.
We encourage students to take on an entrepreneurial spirit and try a hand at selling their handicrafts at our famous sale. Applications are available swansea-kids-table-application-2016-1 or in the school office, must be signed by a parent and are due back Oct 18. Happy crafting!
Are you a Swansea parent with a local/small business looking to give back to Swansea School and get some promotion within the local community? The Craft Sale is one of the school’s larger fundraisers. Your contribution to our sale would greatly support Swansea students.
Looking for a few parent volunteers to join the Craft Sale team. This is a great way to get involved in the school! Key positions to be filled include Raffle table coordinator, Sponsor coordinator and Student Volunteer coordinator (shadow). Also general help the day prior and day of the sale is needed.
Please contact Sylvia with any questions or further details about craft sale sponsorship or volunteering. email@example.com
Parent Council Meeting: Wed, Oct 19th @ 6:45 pm
We’ll be welcoming our new Council-elect and voting on our new budget. The meeting will be held in the upstairs library. All parents are welcome to attend, but if you can’t attend the meetings and/or have any questions or comments for Council please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
For Students in Grades 4 & 7
If your child wrote the EQAO Assessment of Reading, Writing and Mathematics in May of 2016 (while in Grades 3 or 6), the Individual Student Report that shares your child’s results was sent home this week with your child. If you did not receive a copy of this, or you have questions about this information, please call our office. An overview of our School results was shared at our first Parent Council meeting. We are proud of our very positive school results and look forward to sharing more details with you over the Fall about how we are using this and other data to inform our school improvement planning.
Fall Bike Rodeo
Our Fall Bike Rodeo, earlier this week, was a huge success. Over 70 students in Grades 2 – 5 took part. A Spring Bike Rodeo will be organized for any students that missed this opportunity. Thank you to Officer Eric for reinforcing bike safety rules with our students.
Monthly Community Posts
Each month Swansea Parent Council shares a Community Post where local businesses can share their upcoming events with our community. If you have a business, or if you are running a community event that you would like to promote, please send your submission to email@example.com by the 25th of the month and we’ll include it in our next Community Post.
