Swansea Craft Sale 

The 21st Annual Swansea Craft + Bake Sale was held this past Saturday, with great success. The variety of crafts, baked goods, and activities was outstanding. Many thanks to everyone who attended, sponsors and volunteers. In particular, much appreciation goes out to the lead organizer Sylvia Chong and her event planning team. If parents are interested in being involved with planning for another great craft sale next year, please contact Parent Council at swanseaps@gmail.com

Grade 8 Grad Trip
Parents of Gr. 8 students are invited to an Information Evening to learn more about this year’sGrad Trip.  The meeting will take place in the Library on Tuesday, December 8th, beginning at 6:45 p.m.

Grade 8 Parents
Please see information on high schools most common to Swansea students in this letter.  It outlines dates and times for information sessions at local high schools.

Homework Club
A new club is underway at Swansea….. homework help will be available for students in Gr. 4-8 beginning November 30. If your child could use some extra support, or a structured place to get homework done, they may drop-in as needed to Rm. 213 Monday-Thursday from 3:15-4:00pm. Ms. N. Chatterjee and Ms. Ruby will be available to assist students on assignments.

If you are interested in having your child participate, please have them pick up a consent form from one of these two teachers.  This is for the English program.

Milk Program
Forms for our 2016 Milk Program went out to students on Friday, November 14th.

The program will run for 20 weeks every Wednesday beginning January 13th and ending June 1st.  Each carton will cost .50 cents for a total of $10 and your child will have a choice between chocolate and regular white milk.

Milk will be picked up by the students in the lunchroom with the exception of JK/SK or any students that currently eat in their classroom.  These students will have it delivered to their room.

The deadline for form submission is December 1st.The form can be printed off from here 

Pizza Days Late Signup
If your child is not signed up for Pizza Days and you still want to sign up, please pick up a Pizza Days Order Form at the school office and return with payment (cheque or cash) ASAP. Alternatively, email your request (including your child’s name, last name, class and teacher, how many slices and your drink request and your email address if you want to receive a monthly reminder) toswanseapizzadays@gmail.com, and we will fill out a form for you. You can send your payment with your child to hand to their teacher or bring it straight to the school office to go in the PIZZA BIN.  The fee for the remainder of the year is $24.50 for 1 slice and a drink, and $31.50 for 2 slices and a drink.  We appreciate your support.

Subway Sandwich Fundraiser
Sub Day order forms are due Friday December 11th. Students in grades 6 through 8 can order a 6″ sub sandwich and drink for $5 ($1.75/order goes to fund Swansea Parent Council initiatives).

Sub Days will be held on: Tuesday January 12th, Tuesday February 9th, Tuesday March 8th, Tuesday April 12th, Tuesday May 10th and Tuesday June 14th.  Interested in helping out on the Sub Days?  Please email megan.davies@sympatico.ca  

Art in Action Winter Registration
Join us for a brand new winter program for 2016! Stay warm and cozy inside with Art in Action and learn how to make your own great works of art.

Students will learn about famous artists like: Robert Indiana, Lawren Harris, Robert Bateman, Tamara Phillips and more. They will also learn about important principles of art like positive and negative space, hues and shadows, perspective and other art techniques.
Students will be working with: watercolours, acrylics, spray techniques, collage materials, oil pastels, chalk pastels and other supplies.

Registration begins at 7pm on Wednesday, December 9th at www.artinactiontoronto.com

Classes are held at lunchtime on Wednesdays (Jan 6 – Feb 24) and Fridays (Jan 8 – Mar 11). Students make a new piece of art in each of the 8 classes and the session costs $135. Please contact us at artinactiontoronto@gmail.com with any questions.

Lost & Found To Be Donated
Please check the Lost and Found for your child’s items. The area is overflowing and ALL items will be collected, cleared out and donated by Friday, Nov 27th so this is your chance to have a look or get your children to check for any and all missing items.  Thank-you!
