The Swansea Hill is supervised by school staff from 8:30 am thru to 3:30 pm. Staff determine whether the hill is “open” or “closed’ depending on ice and snow conditions. When the hill is “open” students are supervised closely to ensure they go down the hill “one at a time” especially on the ice runs. Students are not allowed to slide down the hill with any equipment – we have a “bums” only policy. Teachers also remind students constantly about hill safety. This year we have had two students seriously hurt on the hill after school. We ask that parents supervise their children closely when playing on the hill and reinforce the Swansea’s safety rules. If the hill is “closed” during the school day parents need to consider whether it is safe after school.
