Swansea Weekly Update – November 16, 2017

Parent Teacher Interviews

Progress reports were sent home with your child this week.  Please ensure that you have made some time to review this report with your child(ren).  Parent-teacher interviews are part of this process and if you have not already done so, we recommend that you schedule a meeting with your child’s teacher to discuss your child’s progress and identify next steps.  Regular parent-teacher communication is an important part of student learning and student success.
The interviews are your opportunity to ask questions about your child’s progress and to discuss any issues. In addition to regular scheduled parent-teacher interviews, you can request a meeting at any time during the school year by contacting your child’s teacher directly.   We look forward to seeing many of our parents during the interview dates. Click here to find out how to book online.
Just a reminder that November 17th is a PD day and there are no classes for students as teachers will be conducting interviews on that morning.

Please Help Support the Grade 8 Grad Dance at the Craft Sale

Your Grade 8 Grad Dance Parent Committee has been hard at work raising funds to keep the Grad Dance ticket prices low.  Please drop by our 2 booths at the entrance to the Craft Sale on Saturday, Nov 18 to buy hot chocolate and raffle tickets to support our kids!
Raffle tickets can be purchased for a chance to win reserved front row seating and VIP parking spots for all Holiday Concerts and Grade 8 Graduation.  What could be better than to cruise into your own parking spot and arrive calm and collected?  Or having a great view of your cutie as they perform at the Holiday Concerts or walk across the stage to get their diploma?
If you’re a Grade 8 Parent please also encourage your child to volunteer and earn S points by signing up for a volunteer shift at our hot chocolate and raffle tables.  We need parents too!  To sign up, visit the school website at swanseaps.com and click on the Volunteer tab.  Be sure to indicate you’d like to help with the Grad efforts.  See you at the Craft Sale!

Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week

The TDSB recognizes Bullying Prevention and Awareness Week November 19 to 25, 2017.
Swansea students, staff and parents work together to create and maintain school communities and learning environments that are caring, safe, peaceful, nurturing, positive, and respectful; and where all students are able to reach their full potential.
At Swansea, we take bullying very seriously.  We focus efforts on prevention and creating a welcoming school community. Throughout the school year, staff and students are educated on what bullying looks like and how to report. They are engaged through events, activities and prevention programming and encouraged to take on leadership roles to enhance the school community.
Please watch for details of these opportunities in future communications.
