International Languages High School Courses

Did you know that your child can study a language for credit in night school in grade 9?

International language courses in night school are one night per week, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. from October to June.  Students who complete the program successfully earn one credit for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

 

Students in grade 8 can register for night school at their current grade 8 school until the end of May 2012. Night school registration forms and the Pre-registration Checklist are available at the grade 8 school office or from Continuing Education ILE instructors.

Students who do not submit the night school form by May 24, 2012 can register through their high school Guidance Counsellors in September.  Note: There is no registration at night school locations. 

 Languages and locations are not final until June 2012. Students are asked to check the night school brochure at www.creditprograms.ca in September 2012 for the final information and for the registration deadline. The following are planned at this time:

Simplified Mandarin Georges Vanier SS – Mon
Traditional Mandarin Georges Vanier SS  – Mon
Romanian Georges Vanier SS – Wed
Russian Georges Vanier – Wed
Sinhalese Georges Vanier SS – Wed

Night school classes will open only if there is sufficient registration by September 19, 2012 and if qualified teachers can be hired. Students are expected to check the night school brochure at www.creditprograms.ca for cancellations the weekend before night school classes begin.
