As a result of increased numbers of students placed in Gifted ISP programs at the elementary level and the accommodation pressures at a number of our gifted secondary program sites, a review of the attendance boundaries for all Gifted ISP secondary programs based on student home address is necessary. This review process will look at revising the program boundaries for the secondary Gifted ISP Programs in order to:
• Address equity of access to this program across the Toronto District School Board.
• Introduce programs in regions of the city where no program previously existed within a more reasonable proximity to student home addresses – more specifically in the Northeast and Southeast quadrants of the District.
• Address accommodation pressures at Don Mills Collegiate Institute and Northern S.S.
Staff are in the process of reviewing enrollment and trend data at the elementary and secondary levels, as well as the space available in secondary sites required to support sustainable gifted ISPs programs.
We value the input and feedback from our community members and hope that you will be able to participate in this important step in our review process on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 7 to 8:30pm at Western Tech CS
