Parent Information Session – Wednesday Feb. 6 at 7PM in the Swansea Gym
Topic: Tackling Bullying and Other Obstacles to Kids’ Learning & Well-being
Swansea PS welcomes Jennifer Kolari of Connected Parenting for an informative evening on how to help children surmount anxiety, bullying and other related barriers to learning. Drawing from her vast experience as a child and family therapist and as a mom, Jennifer will empower parents with tools to connect with their kids, help them overcome social and emotional challenges, and transform negative behaviours to positive ones. The presentation will emphasize the importance of empathy and how it can be used effectively as a powerful way to help children grow and to strengthen your relationship with them as parents.
The event is free for all parents. For further information, please see the flyer:
Volunteers Needed: Class Coordinators
Swansea School Council is looking for parents to be Class Coordinators for each class (these are not voting positions on Council).
The Class Coordinators will:
support teachers in organizing and/or communicating with parents on class-specific activities/events when requested by the teacher
help teachers recruit parent volunteers e.g. for field trips, Scholastic orders etc.
help School Council recruit parent volunteers
help parents in the class communicate with each other
Please note that the Class Coordinators are *not* liaisons between the teacher and parents on issues related to their children.
If you’re interested in helping out, please email Zannat Reza firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and your child’s teacher’s name. Please put “Class Coordinator” in the subject line of your email. An orientation email will be sent out to all Coordinators. Thanks!
