From the Principal’s Desk – Sept 6, 2012

Welcome back everyone.  We had a good start to our school year.  We managed to get all of our students into class relatively quickly and the rain held off to help us.

Thank you to our wonderful caretaking staff and office staff for all of their hard work last week to ensure we were ready for Tuesday.

Each child was given a package of information about the school and their classroom.  We ask that parents review this information with their child and complete and return any forms as soon as possible.

Over the next two weeks we will be confirming our enrolment.  September 14th is our COUNT DAY.  After that Elementary Staffing will review our numbers and determine if we gain a teacher, lose a teacher or stay the same.  Our Kindergarten and primary grades seem to be very stable but we will be monitoring our junior classes closely.  If there is a change in staffing we will be contacting parents as soon as possible.

Looking forward to another wonderful school year at Swansea PS.

Karen Ridley, Principal

Primary Running Club

Primary Running Club will begin on Wednesday September 5th. We provide this opportunity so that our students can be fit, have fun, and prepare for the TDSB cross-country running races in October.   As we did last year, the primary classes will meet on the field 20 minutes before morning recess.  We will run for fifteen minutes.  At 10:10am, we will stop running so that students have time to prepare for recess.  Students will have an opportunity to run every day except when they have music, library, pool, or IT.  Parents can help by making sure that their children wear running shoes to school every day.  Information about signing up for the TDSB cross-country races will be provided later in the month.

Lunch Lady

Lunch Lady will be providing lunch on Thursday’s again this year.  This is an optional program for students wishing to purchase a hot lunch.  Order forms will be sent home later this week and the first delivery date will be Thursday, September 20th.

Swansea does receive $0.35 for each meal purchased and this money goes towards supporting our extra curricular activities.
