National Sweater Day is back

Swansea is embracing National Sweater Day on Thursday, February 9th. This is a day to turn down the heat and put on a funky sweater to show your commitment to the environment. The school will be 2 degrees cooler than usual this Thursday. Wear a sweater to keep warm, and look cool! For more information & fun activities about National Sweater Day go to

Report Cards/Parent Teacher Interviews

Report cards are being sent home on Monday, February 13th. Please review these with your child, sign page 3 and return the tear off portion. There is other important information being sent home in the report card envelope too – please be sure to read this information.

Parent Teacher Interviews will be held next week. Teachers will be sending information about their interview schedule with the report cards. We encourage all parents to come and meet with their child’s teacher to discuss his/her progress.

Lost and Found

As we are nearing the end of Term One the lost and found items are being sorted and readied to be taken to a local charity depot. Please ensure you check the lost and found for your missing gloves, hats, coats, boots, etc. All remaining items will be cleaned on February 21st.

Music By the Lake Camp June 2-9, 2012

Members of the choirs, strings, and band programs in grades 6,7 or 8 are invited to attend this outstanding residential camp, a highlight of the year for students who love making music together, and a range of summer camp activities. The location is Camp Wahanowin on Lake Couchiching and bussing is available. Please see Ms. West in room 115 for information and application forms; bursaries are available.

Grade 7 & 8 Ski Trip

On Friday, February 10th the grade seven and eight students are going skiing at Mount Ste. Louis. The bus is leaving at 7:30 AM sharp, so students need to arrive no later than 7:10 AM to ensure they are not left standing at the curb waving good-bye to the bus.

Facebook 101 – Who are your children REALLY sharing with?

The Safe Schools Committee has organized a parent information session about Facebook on Thursday, February 16th at 7:00 pm. This session was arranged so it would coincide with parent-teacher interviews. An information flyer will be sent home with the report cards.
