Spelling Bee

Congratulations to the winners of Swansea’s 4th Annual Spelling Bee.

Primary – Raya G.
Junior/Senior – Andrea K.

Thank you to Lisa McDonald for organizing a well run evening and to all the volunteers and staff who supported this event.  There were some tense moments at the end of each bee as the numbers dwindled to one or two spellers.  Thank you, too, to all the spellers who braved getting up in front of a large audience to spell some challenging words – you all did yourself very proud!

Winter Concert

Please check out this link for some wonderful pictures from the Winter Concert.  Thank you Mr. Firatli for taking these pictures.
Swansea Day

On Friday, December 23rd we are asking everyone to wear their Swansea colours.  We will be having an assembly to recognize the accomplishments of our students during this past term – athletics, music, character education.

Holiday Fund

The holiday season is approaching and we know that this can be a very difficult time in the lives of many of our families.  Many years ago we established a Holiday Fund so that parents who need financial assistance during this time will be able to access funds.  This year is no exception.  Our Holiday Fund will be able to offer gift certificates to families in need so that they can provide something special for their children who attend Swansea Public School.

If you would like to participate in this program, or know of someone who could use some support over the holidays, please call the school at 416-393-9082 Extension 20005, and leave a message for Mary White.   All inquiries will be treated with confidentiality.

Tree of Giving

The holiday season is a time when we celebrate our culture and traditions, many of which include supporting our neighbours who are less fortunate.

Swansea School has chosen to support our community through a Christmas Tree of Giving.  This will be outside the office and people may make donations if they wish.

The charities we are supporting this year are: Free the Children, and LAMP Toy Drive

Thank you for your support of our community and we wish you all the best in this holiday season.
