Pink Day
The TDSB has a strong mandate against bullying and intolerance in schools and in the workplace.  To recognize this April 13th has been designated as Pink Day. This day is based on the actions of two Nova Scotia grade 12 students who, in 2007, marshalled their friend to wear pink in support of a younger student who had been bullied for wearing a pink shirt on the first day of school.  This campaign resulted in, not just 50 of their friends, but in hundreds of students turning up the next day wearing pink in support of the bullied student.

Easter Chocolates
Solid milk chocolate Easter Bunnies are available in the office for $5.00 each.  All money raised will go towards the Grade 8 Graduation trip.

Cell Phones
On Monday, April 11th grade 7 and 8 students listened to a presentation on internet safety. This also included cell phones with texting and cameras.  The TDSB policy does permit students to possess personal communication and media devices (e.g. phones, iphones, BlackBerrys) while on school property.  These devices must be powered off and stored out of view.  Any student found using a cell phone will have their phone confiscated until the end of the day.  Repeat offenders will have to have their parent(s) come and collect their phone. If there is an emergency, where you need to talk to your child please contact the office and we will locate him/her for you. Thank you for your support in keeping Swansea a safe place to learn.
