Parents and students are reminded that bicycles, skateboards and scooters are not to be ridden on school property. During school hours they can be locked up at the bicycle racks or stored in student lockers. Due to limited space there is no room to store these in hallways or classrooms. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our playgrounds a safe place to play.
Swansea Public School makes every effort to provide a peanut/nut safe environment. Parents are asked to ensure that any food brought to school – for lunch, snack, class distribution, crafts, field trips and School Council sponsored events – be Peanut/Nut Safe! No Peanuts/Nuts, nut products or nut by-products, please! A reminder to parents to review the snacks your child is bringing to school – especially the leftover Easter treats.
The Health and Safety Committee have been working with the school administration to resolve the congestions and unsafe conditions in our parking lots.
In an effort to improve student safety and reduce accidents in and around the school, the following measures will be enforced:
1) School Parking lots are for staff only (located south and north of the school.) Parents using staff parking lots will be ticketed;
2) Children are to be dropped off and picked up on Waller Avenue only for a standing period of 10 minutes between the hours of 8:00-9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., and 3:00-5:00 p.m. Parents staying over the allotted 10 minutes will be ticketed
3) Absolutely NO STOPPING, PARKING or BLOCKING in the School Bus Zone. Parents found in violation of these city by-laws are subject to ticketing.
Parents, who need to drive children to school, are encouraged to use the areas suggested on the map at the back. Some alternative suggestions are:
· WALK! WALK! WALK!
· Park a few blocks away and walk the rest of the way.
· Use the empty parking lot near the field by Rennie rink.
Thank you in advance for helping us to ensure our children’s safety, alleviate congestion around the school and make the traffic flow more efficient and expedient for all parties involved.
