In addition to a live auction and a live band, there will be a fantastic silent auction. Proceeds are going towards an outdoor learning centre at Swansea, and to help make improvements to the lunchroom.
If you’re looking to contribute while enjoying yourself, Swansea Pub Night is for you!
The QSP drive ends next week – October 14. Take advantage of the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend to sell some magazines to extended family members. The QSP catalogue includes all your favourite magazines as well as many that aren’t easy to find on the newsstands. If your child is in the French program, check out the selection of French magazines for kids. Go to www.qsp.ca/3721511
Due to Job Action, we are extending the deadline for submitting Pizza Days Order Forms to Tuesday, October 13. We will be distributing extra forms in class this week for kids who haven’t received their forms. Please ask your child to bring home the form so that they will receive their order. To make it easier for the teachers, students can drop off their forms and payment straight to the office during recess or at the end of the day but not during office rush hour between 8:30-9:30 AM.
Parents, we need your help! Our students had a great time at our Terry Fox Run on September 30th. To date, we have raised just over $750 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Last year, we raised over $1200. Our goal this year was to collect a toonie for every student in the school and raise $1600 for cancer research. Please help us achieve our goal by donating online at www.terryfoxrun.org and click on “Donate to a Student or School”. Cash donations are also being accepted. Thanks in advance for your support!
We need your help!! The Swansea QSP fundraising campaign is scheduled for September 2015 and volunteers are desperately needed to run this fundraiser! The QSP campaign raises over $13,400 for important Swansea programs and, without these funds, Scientists in the School and the Apple program will be cancelled. Also, without these funds, council will be unable to buy any further computers, literacy materials or musical instruments for the school. Without the necessary volunteers, the QSP fundraising campaign will have to be cancelled.
Volunteers need to be available for about a month, committing 1-2 hours a day. Most of the work can be done from home but volunteers must be available to pick up and drop off orders and prizes at school daily. If you are interested in volunteering or in getting more information, please contact Yvette Parker at firstname.lastname@example.org
Calling all grade 6, 7 and 8 students! Are you tired of your regular lunch? Want to try something different? On Tuesday April 21st and Tuesday May 19th students in grades 6 through 8 can order a 6″ sub, drink and cookie for $7 ($2/order goes to fund Swansea Parent Council initiatives). Orders due by Friday April 17th, please give the order form and money to your teacher. Staff can participate in the subway lunches as well. Order forms can be found here.
To students and teachers who bought cookie dough from the cookie dough drive, you will receive your order on April 7th from the eighth grade student you ordered from. You do NOT need to pick up your cookie dough. Eighth grade students are advised to distribute the cookie dough near the end of the day. If your child is absent on April 7th, he or she will receive their cookie dough when they are back at school. Student council will make sure that all the remaining cookie dough will be put in the freezer at school and deliver them throughout the week. We will make sure you get your cookie dough by the end of the week.
A big thank you goes out to all families and students who came out and supported Swansea Parent Council this past weekend on Movie Day! The theatre was full and the laughs plenty as we came together and raised close to $850 for Swansea Parent Council Initiatives – initiatives that will benefit the students at our school. An extra special thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the day possible. Please feel free to share your feedback from the event by emailing us at email@example.com

Thank you again to all of the staff, students and their families for making this fundraiser such a success. Our total sales were over $45,000 and we raised over $14,000 for the school.
We are happy to announce that one of the winners of the Zoo Draw, which included 163 top-selling students from 43 Toronto schools, is Cameron Craig in Mr. Bene’s JK/SK class. He will have a one on one experience with an Animal Keeper and animal, and receive a plush bear.
Finally, with the holidays fast approaching, remember that magazines and photo products make great gifts. Swansea earns profits throughout the year. Just go to www.QSP.ca to order, and watch for a flyer coming home later this week.
