A Note From Marc Dunn

With your help and support I was able to be part of an incredible team and had a truly rewarding, uplifting and fulfilling experience.

GlobalFire put together a team of 14 personnel, 11 from Toronto Fire, one administrator from Ottawa and 2 from Alberta. With the money you donated, we were able to equip 85 firefighters from all around the province of Leyte with personal protective equipment and provide training in Fireground operations, Urban Rescue, Extrication, and Water Rescue. We were also able to provide 155 items (including ladders, axes, sledgehammers and medical equipment) and a total of 1300 pieces, all at no cost to our recipients.

As much as we were there to teach, I think we learned more from them. What struck me the most was the resilience of the Filipino people and how happy they were with what little they had. It certainly makes one think about what is needed for happiness, and perhaps that we should be more content with what we have.

I thank you for the privilege of representing the school and village of Swansea, the city of Toronto, and our country. Because GlobalFire accepts donations through a third party company, I did not always receive the details of my donors. So, if I have missed thanking anyone, please accept this note as thanks for your support.
